Music Sharing issue

My husband has a MacBook Air with no disk drive and I have a Mac desktop. I am attempting to import cd's into his library. I'm not having any luck!! Both computers are signed into iTunes with his account info. When I insert a cd into my computer and select import, it automatically imports the cd into my library, not his. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it even possible??

All "signing into iTunes" does is get you access to the iTunes Store unless you have iTunes Match in which case it gives you access to whatever is in Cloud storage.

You need to directly share the computers at home using Home Sharing.

Thanks for your response. The music sharing feature is working fine between both computers. I'm just trying to box up all our cd's and want to import them into my husband's library, which he has stored on a portable hard drive. He does not have a disk drive. Was hoping I could just sign in as him on my computer and import them on my computer but it just imports the cd into my library instead.

If you are using your library on your computer then of course what you rip will go into your library. You then need to transfer them to his library which you can do with Home Sharing. There isn't any invisible, automatic transfer of your library content to a central, common storage. The "account" you see with your music on your computer is not the same as the "account" you see for the iTunes Store. Music is not transferred from your computer to some central Cloud repository unless you sign up for iTunes Match. Even then he would have to sign in as you on his computer to have access to your Match content and that in turn might confuse the Match service because it would then try to match your cloud storage the his account.
