Pics printing in reverse!!

I'm posting this for a friend who doesn't presently have access to the Net. Hope you can help me to help her.

She has an iBook G4 connected to a Brother MFC 210 C printer. The computer and printer have always been compatible.

But recently, when she tried to print out some photographs, they came out as a mirror image, left to right reversed. They look fine on the computer screen, and she has no problem with text, just photgraphs.

Does anybody know what to do about this problem? Or can you tell me which forum to ask?

Thanks

Hi Kurt GM and welcome to Apple's discussions.

AFAIK but happy to be proved wrong, there is no actual setting within the OS that can change all picture printing to a mirror image. I think it is more likely that it is a printer setting that she has inadvertently altered. Ask her to have a close look at the box that comes up after selecting File>Print, or command-P, to see, perhaps clicking the 'Advanced' button. Certainly there is a mirror/reverse printing facility on many printers' drivers to enable, for example, the printing onto acetate so that the printing is seen through but protected by the acetate.

If all else fails she could trash the .com.brother.plist or similar in her library/preferences folder. That would get rid of any personal preferences and printing profiles that she has set up, effectively as if it were a new printer.
Don't trash the Brother folder in /Library/Printers.

If she is using iPhoto for her editing/printing you could always ask in the iPhoto forum.

Sorry it's all a bit vague,

Best of luck,

Adrian
