Q: Apple Remote assistance required!

I've replaced the battery, I've checked my system preferences settings, but my Apple Remote just isn't working anymore. It hasn't been subject to any rough conditions, it's just been sitting on my desk. It's not transmitting any IR signals when I try to point it at my iSight camera, and it's not pairing at all. Is there any hope of getting it to work again?
