Can I still synch playlists to my iPad when I have iTunes Match?

I have iTunes Match running on my Mac, iPad and iPhone. I am traveling to Mexico and want to synch a bunch of music onto my devices so it is available when I'm overseas and and away from WIFI. When I try to do this by connecting my iPad to my Mac, I cannot find a way to load playlists onto it. Does using iTunes Match preclude the synching of music onto my mobile devices? If so, what are my options? If not, how do I do this?

01/2014 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5832944?answerId=24654537022#24654537022 - "if you have iTunes Match enabled on an iOS device traditional syncing of music via USB is disabled. All music management takes place directly on the device. You'll need to make sure your prefered playlist is mirrored in the cloud for it to show up on your iPhone."

Or disable Match for the device.
