Connect lines to text boxes?

Hi,

I just imported a ppt presentation into keynote 5.3.

One slide shows a phylogenetic tree.

When I moved a text box that was located a node, some magic happened: the branches stuck to the box!

So I coud rearrange the tree quite easily. I can shorten branches my moving the text box at the tips. I don't have to move the segments separately.

I never though keynote could do that.

Now I don't know how to make that from scratch, since it was done in powerpoint. I didn't even make the ppt file I imported into keynote.

Any Idea how to connect line paths to text boxes in keynote?

you must use connection lines, not drawing lines, to add a connecting line: Insert > Line > Connection Line

drag the connecting lines end point over a text box, an outline box will appear, allowing the line to connect
