Unable to insert any image in keynote!

Hi!

Im unable to insert a image in to keynote, either by drag & drop or by the insert tab. I can insert image via the media icon from Iphoto but that isn't very useful to me. The only thing it says is "The image “name-of-image” couldn’t be inserted."....

Things I have tried:
- Uninstalled keynote by moving it to the trash and repaired permissions with disk utility

- Uninstalled keynote with app cleaner

I have had permission problems with images on my computer, I have been unable to open images with preview because it's saying that I don't have permissions (which I have) and then have to quit preview and start it again top open the image up. so I don't know if this is linked together with the keynote problem. (?)
