Jan 19, 2015 3:18 PM in response to Wallychamp49by Old Toad,What is the exact message you're getting and where are you getting it. Post a screenshot of it if you can.
If you have upgraded to Yosemite you should have iPhoto 9.6. It's available from the App Store for free.
If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and apply the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 to the library before iPhoto 9.6 can open it.

Jan 19, 2015 3:46 PM in response to Wallychamp49by Old Toad,Go to the Applications folder and move any iPhoto application there to the Trash bin in the Dock. Don't empty it at this time.
Go back to the App store and look for iPhoto again. See if you can't download it now. If there's still issues contact the App Store support personnel via this website: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/.
