I can't seem to answer my phone when it is still locked. I miss calls fumbling around and trying to unlock it and by then the caller has given up. I thought phone calls came through regardless of whether the phone was locked or not. Is there anyway to make it that way? IPhone 6plus with ios8 software.

That is the default setting - phone calls always come through regardless of lock status - one usually has the option to answer - the green button or not - the red button
Can you describe why you feel that you have to unlock your phone?
When mine is ringing, all I see is the red circle, I try to push that in every way possible but it never answers and the phone keeps ringing. Then I finally get my right thumb over the home button and it opens the phone but the caller has given up by then. I have seen the red and green buttons before on occasion and they worked, but I most just get the red button and it doesn't budge. Does it make a difference if the call is coming from another iPhone or an Android phone?
No where the call is coming from is immaterial -
I just tried this on my own phone - when a call comes into the locked screen - there is no red button - there is just the slider to answer the call or a button to send a message
I would do the following - check to see after each if the problem is solved
1. Reset network settings - settings - general - reset - reset network settings
2. Reset the phone
3. Restore your phone from backup

I have the same problem. Intermittent but today has happened 4 times.
I just get the Red circle, and try to swipe it to answer. No luck.
Called Apple Support today and did a chat with a support tech.
Just wanted me to reset my whole phone. When i mentioned that my wife and several of my sales people were having the same problem.
She just stated that there is no reported problem and that apple has 300 million devices out there.
No help to me. Has anyone found out what causes this and how to get around it?
I have about 10 users with similar issue. Sliding to answer and it simply does not slide to answer.

I discovered that if I just hit the home button and then swipe it will answer the call. Iphone 6s ios 10.2
