Jan 19, 2015 2:23 PM in response to johncandt2by Gigster99,Mine has also done that occasionally, and upon further search online it looks like it could be an operating system bug. Try going to finder, then at the top (menu bar) click go, then click computer. Then right click on Macintosh HD, and click Get Info. - What does it have to say about space there?

Jan 19, 2015 3:57 PM in response to johncandt2by dominic23,Re-index Macintosh HD.
Spotlight reindexing will take a while to finish.
System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409
If you don’t have Macintosh HD icon on the Desktop:
Finder > Preferences > Sidebar
Enable Hard disks under “Devices”.
