When asked in quiet conversation with my elder MacBook1.1

he replied, to the effect, "Quite frankly, we'd all be pushovers."

Outside of any first person account or speculative guess

we're unable to reply. A few interviews with newer MB

Air/ MB Pro Retina, and others, may upset them due to

a case of sibling rivalry between Pads, Pods, & MBks.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

There was a company who uses a MacBook/Pro as a base, to convert it

to a portable tablet computer, and that screen offers more features. The

unit is a custom build, which was offered new. They still have this site:

On the other hand, there was an Oct '14 news release in which the topic

of touch-screen Macs w/ OS X, that was addressed by an Apple official:

Not sure if this info helps, but there are answers & yet other answers.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

What I'd really love to see would be a convertible ultrabook... a cross between a MacBook Air and an iPad. It would look like a MacBook Air but will have a detachable screen that can be an iPad... The touchscreen retina display should be able to be used in both tablet and in laptop mode, the same touch gestures should be used both onscreen or trackpad giving users the choice, a dual boot system could offer both Mac OSX (for full laptop use) or iOS for ("instant on/off" use), and the machine should be powerful enough to run all full OSX programs in laptop mode and all iOS apps too... This would be the ultimate machine for me.
