You don't need to know the brand name for the memory. Apple has memory made to meet its specifications. If you need more memory and are trying to ensure it matches the existing memory, go to
In North America, OWC … (OWC) - Performance Upgrades For Your Mac
In Europe contact Crucial.com … RAM Memory Upgrade
Both companies have facilities to guide you and will recommend the correct memory package to meet the needs you describe to them. There may be benefits buying from whichever company has a branch in your own geographical location insofar as Shipping charges, Local sales taxes and Exchange rates. Check out the basic memory costs and do your sums.
If your late 2013 iMac is a 21 inch screen model, then the RAM is not upgradeable.
Hello Seventy, thank you for your answer which it is very useful maybe I didn't explain myself well so I will be more specific. I should say:
I Have a Late 2013 iMac , a third party will upgrade mi iMac with the memories I will provide them but once the upgrade it's done and I would like to know if the brand of the memory I gave them it is the exactly the same I gave them in other have not been cheated if they change the RAM Memory for a cheaper one or not so good. Thanks
Hello MichelPM, Thanks for your reply but YES, iMac it is upgradable !! it's not easy to do it but at Apple authorized center they can upgrade a late 2013 iMac RAM memory until 16GB (2 X 8GB). It is not an easy task to do it to replace the 2X 4GB that your iMac already has since the monitor display is sealed!! but not impossible, so if you have the skills you can do it by yourself OR a third party could do the job for you if you provide the right DDR3 RAM but since I will receive a "closed" iMac I want to check if they placed inside the same RAM memory I provided in my case I will give them two Corsair Apple Certified 8GB DDR3 1600MHz PC3 12800 Laptop Memory 1.35V CAS 11-11-11-30 but I don't want another brand with the same specifications.
You still haven't told us what size screen your iMac has. As MichelPM says, the memory on a 21.5 " can not be upgraded, at least officially. Amongst other things you will void your guarantee.
You do not want to put Corsair ram in that imac. As difficult as it is to get open you're not going to want to do it againg when bargain basement ram like Corsair starts causing kernel panics. Save youself the trouble and use the correct spec Crucial ram. http://www.crucial.com
I am told Corsair are the best and they are Mac certified also there are Crucial but I have not more good options. Thanks
First Apple does not certify third party ram. Corsair is one of the worst, they work great in PC but not so well in Macs that require EXACT spec ram instead of the fast and loose close enough that the bargain basement brands like Corsair use. If you have the opportunity to get Crucial I'd strongly recommend that you do.
Sorry Seventy I toght it was on my profile It is an Late 2013 21.5" iMac. Thanks
Thank you Mike I will check that.
seventy one is trying to impress upon you that once you open that iMac Apple will never again support you with repairs. You'll be on your own.
Hi Michel here is the way a late 2013 iMac is RAM upgraded https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1gihIbBKvc
Thank you, Mike. 😀
I don't have warranty anymore Seventy and YES, an iMac 21.5" Late 2013 it's upgradablehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1gihIbBKvc
Yes, I tend to think that everyone buys Applecare ... which they don't. 😀 Though it isn't applicable to this matter, do buy it next time you buy a new computer.
