Q: iPad3 wifi is not good

I have two iPad 3's and it seems that I can't get either of them to get wifi speeds greater than 7mbps (which is VERY slow).

I have followed all the router configurations here:

iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support

I have also reset the network setting on both.  Still nothing.  One of the iPads got up to 40mbps for only 1 day but since then it is right back to 7mbps.

I am definitely connected to the correct network.

The router's firmware is up to date.

I am running 8.1.2 on both iPads.

My wifes iPhone 4s is running at 41 mbps.

My Galaxy S4 which since the router changes went from 16 mbps is now holding at 50 mbps.

My laptop is now running at 85mbps.

So the settings recommended helped, but didn't help the iPads.

Any suggestions would be great!  It is obviously something to do with the iPads.

Thanks very much in advance!

iOS 8.1.2

    Hi there dingoace10,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like there's a Wi-Fi signal strength or throughput issue that’s affecting some iOS devices on your Wi-Fi network, and you’ve already tried some of the recommended troubleshooting steps. If you haven’t already, try the troubleshooting steps in the article linked below.

iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections - Apple Support

Wi-Fi disconnects or signal strength is less than expected

    1. Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
    2. Check for sources of potential interference.
    3. Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
    4. Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including
      • previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
      • recently used Bluetooth accessories
      • VPN and APN settings

    Ciao,

    -Jason
