"show duplicate items" is grayed out
Trying to get rid of duplicates in my library, but the "show duplicate items" option is grayed out in my dropdown list What do I do?

Show Duplicate Items is not available for all media types, or for media that's on any device rather than in your library. Make sure you have Music selected (the icon with two musical notes, top left of the screen) so that you can see a listing of songs, albums, ... and the function should then be available for you.
I have no idea what you mean by 'two musical notes'. Are you using a Mac or Windows computer?
