Hello Rick,

Yes, with the latest version of iOS 8, it supports Message Access Profile as a Bluetooth profile. Keep in mind that not Bluetooth devices are not created the same and so their may be a variation of how it functions. Take a look at the article below for more information.

THank you Norm for your comment and reference. I've bern trying to figure out how to use hands free texting in my 2014 grand Cherokee. Interestingly, I can get incoming texts through the system with no issue, but can't "voice to text" reply through the system. Th Uconnect manual says it's because iPhone doesn't support MAP. If my 5s on IOS8 does support MAP, then I continue to scratch my head As to why it won't work. any other info or references that might help me is appreciated..

It looks like iOS does not allow Bluetooth connected device to send SMS messages as shown in Section 2.2.3

2.2.3 Message Access Profile (MAP)

Every accessory that is compatible with an Apple product and supports MAP shall:

Support Message Notification as described in Section 4.1 of the Bluetooth Message Access Profile
Register for notifications immediately after the connection is established, as described in Section 4.5 in Message Access Profile specification, version 1.0.
Not expect the TEL property to be present in the originator VCARD (the properties N and FN will be Message Access Profile specification, version 1.0.
Not provide a user interface for sending messages. iOS devices do not support sending messages using MAP
