Q: iPhone 4 cannot control Apple TV via remote App? this is bullying by Apple!!

Looks like I can't control latest Apple TV via the Remote App on an iPhone 4 running iOS 7 - why?... surely this has nothing to do with hardware capabilities and everything to do with Apple's bullying into forcing people to necessarily update their devices. I hope that I am missing something but it all worked fine and now ..!

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2

I guess you may regret those ridiculous accusations if this is the case.

Your remote app should work fine, you probably have an issue with your network set up.

The confusion between different passwords due to Mobile Me and iCloud plus the complexities of Home Sharing and the frustration of using an increasingly outdated iPhone4 with the sometimes challenging Remote App and a brand new iMAC have proved to be a lethal combination.

I resolved the issue by resetting the Apple TV and the Remote App, making sure I keep things simple by only using the iCloud account ... hope this keeps me out of trouble for a while.

Keeping things simple is good, it's usually the best way forward.
