RAM upgrade on Mid 2007 iMac wont boot.

Hi. I am trying to upgrade a mid 2007 imac to 4GBs of ram but when I install the 2GB sticks all i get is the fan spinning and a black screen. No boot chime or greyish Mac screen glow. I also tried the 2GB sticks in a late 2008 model imac and it worked. Any ideas?

This is the RAM i purchased from Crucial:

2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.8V 256Meg x 64

My mac specs are:

2.4 GHz Intel core 2 Duo

Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)

Mid 2007 20-inch

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Try these 3 procedures:

1 - remove the new module and make sure the iMac will boot with the original module.

2 - make sure both modules are firmly seated into the RAM slots.

3 - switch slots with the modules and try again.

Thanks for the Reply. The Original 1GB modules work fine. Its just when I take those out and install the crucial 2GB modules that i have the problem.

Contact Crucial as it appears that they are either bad modules or the wrong specs.

Yeah im thinking they listed the wrong spec on the website because I tested the 2GB modules in a 2008 model imac and they worked. Also, since my OP I tried resetting the SMC, ran the Apple Hardware Diagnostics, and made sure the firm ware was up to date.
