iPhone 6 8.12 and 2014 Honda Accord drops and reconnects, is there a fix?

My 2014 Honda Accord coupe worked fine with my iPhone 6 for two months. With no previous problems when I got into my vehicle this morning the bluetooth connectivity got hinky. It connects, then disconnects over and over. Some threads suggest doing a settings reset on the phone as well as in the auto. In the past week I've also had problems with iMessage not working. Are these two problems related? Is there a fix?

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you are experiencing issues with the bluetooth connectivity to your car’s stereo system, as well as problems with iMessage. I don’t see a connection between the two issues, but we can definitely troubleshoot these two issues.
