Is search project a virus that effects Mac

I found a program called Search Project in my applications and I am trying to determine if it is from apple or a third party and if so is it a virus

MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 8.1.2

Can you post a screen shot of it's icon in the Application folder please?

I Got a hold of Apple support and they advised it is adware and I removed it. There was no icon just the words Search Project.

It was probably "Search Protect" and you can learn how such garbage gets installed by reading How to install adware.
