....instead of stringing me along to what appears to be an eventual demise.

Oh.. I don't think we are looking at the eventual demise.... I just think it's going in a different direction to what was original planned and what LP was designed to be... and in doing so, we are saying 'goodbye' to certain features that set Logic apart, like the environment as a good example.

Much like OS X is doing.........

    Trash the prefs...

    Delete the user preferences

You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:

    1. Quit Logic Pro
    2. In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
    3. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    4. Press the Go button.
    5. Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
    6. If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove ~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
    7. Restart the computer.

Note: if you cannot find the files... you didn't follow the steps outlined above, exactly as described!

Yes, but you can export your key commands into a file and then reimport them after trashing.  You'll see a button for it in the key commands window.

Looks like you didn't get them all. I would delete any file in that folder that has "logic10" or "logic.pro" in it.  And make sure to restart.

    Benji,

It's much easier to simply add a photo to a post here using the camera icon......

    Camera icon.png

and this then allows the photo to be permanently attached to your post.. rather than vanish after a period of time so anyone else reading your posts in the future, can see what you were referring to....

Anyhow, can you take a screenshot of your Plugin Manager screen and post it up please

Note: One day, soon I hope... the video button, to the right of the camera button, will be activated so we can also post and attach videos permanently to posts too...

Nigel please remind me which OSX you run of your test bed machine?

A user over at Gearslutz reports he has no issues opening and running a back up copy of 10.0.7 after installing 10.1.0

    cheers

    Hi Murray,

This was 10.1 with 10.9.4 (using the plist tweak as the minimums for LPX 10.1 is 10.9.5)  and 10.9.5........

I've been sent several reports now of the same or similar issue after rearranging plugins using the new plugin manager..... and then simply using the 10.0.7 app rather than rolling back the whole thing to a previous config... The issues tend to be crashes either at startup or upon closing LPX... and typically involve Kontakt  (latest version) and some other 3rd party plugins...

It's still early stages yet however, and it might be fixable with a few tweaks...

I haven't started to test 10.1 with Yosemite yet.. probably start this weekend....

    Nigel

    Additional:

Also, 'patches' are not backwards compatible so once you save out a patch or a project that used a patch in 10.1 then you get this msg when trying to use it  or open said projects in 10.0.7

Note: I wasn't trying to 'import' anything......
