Edgar I have most all your books and appreciate them.  I thought I'd chime in,

I am up in the middle of the night, because I can't stay away....

Most of the upgrade musically is tarteged toward modern electronic pop and dub and that sort of thing, but don't

let that fool you or through you off.   The most fun I have had so far is using the new layout and selections in the compressors,  they look great,

make sense in their layout...  and come with enough presets to help anyone sound better fast.

Most of you know this trick... but you don't have to use apple's drums in the drummer,......I am a songwriter and needed sticks in an arrangement,

so I plugged in toontracks and off I went...their Nashville pack worked without a flaw... and because the compressors are easier to look at and understand...

I went through an old mix and redid it in no time.

Apple is outrunning our ability to learn the depth of their software, don't tell them they might stop, but we users will have to share... I think there are so many ways to solve problems...apple doesn't know all of them....I think the upgrade was 8.5 out of 10.

Just a tip, the only way I see at the moment to get ahead learning is to get Edgar's books.  The idea of a manual from apple is disappearing... not necessarily the manual....... but how and what you can do with the software.   Edgar's books or endless pdf files from apple.

Thanks for your compliment about my books. I will release an addendum book net week covering all the new features and changes, plus lots features and changes that were not listed in the Release Notes.

BTW, the update is not only for the EDM crowed. There are hitter gems for film composers.

    • Now you can resize the movie file, treat it like a Region (in the Movie Project Settings)
    • Only the section of the trimmed Movie Region will be visible in the Movie Export
    • The length of the Movie Export is not limited by the movie file
    • The movie export Dialog now has a checkbox for including the audio track of a movie file

    Still no dice. Extremely frustrating.

    Any other suggestions?

Should I completely delete all of my Logic preferences & try to somehow either uninstall or delete Logic from my computer then reinstall?

Deleting all the prefs is worth a shot I suppose... though really it should only be the CS prefs that would affect something like this.... but it won't do any harm deleting all of Logic's prefs...

In addition, under normal circumstances... uninstalling, deleting and reinstalling Logic, doesn't fix anything unless the download itself was bad in which case Logic wouldn't usually run at all....

But again, no harm in doing so..... so if nothing else, it discounts a problem with the download/installation.

My client reported that he has has to restart his Mac a couple of times when the Mackie stopped working but once done it continued to work normally for long periods of time. He also said that happened on occasion under 10.0.7.. so he believes thats just one of the quirks with his Mackie setup.... He left to go on a family trip last night, for a few days but once he gets back I'll check in again with him. I will also say however, apart from your report, I haven't come across anyone else having any issues with their Mackies after updating that i have been made aware of at least.

Thanks for getting back to me & helping me with this. I'm embarrassed to say how many hours I put into repeating the same troubleshooting steps over & over yesterday.

I'm going to try for the uninstall & reinstall.

Do you know how I could fully uninstall Logic Pro X? Like get EVERYTHING out of my computer... without having to format my computer?

Rather than do that, I would create a external bootable OS X  HD and then install a fresh copy of 10.1 to that..... just to test your Mackie...

OS X: Installing OS X on an external volume - Apple Support

if that works ok then, at least you know it's an issue with your main system drive and configuration.... and not just an issue with 10.1

I am running MacOS 10.10.1 (both on an new iMac and MacBookAir) and updated from the prior version to LogicPro X 10.1 yesterday. When I go to the Plugin Manager, all my Logic 10.1.0 plugins show N.A. for compatibility and N.A. in the checkbox column. The Apple 1.6.0 plugins are being validated properly. What am I doing wrong? I have deleted the Logic preference files and restarted my Mac, and have reinstalled the Logic application, and have the same results. Help please.

Are you using something like Automap and did you wrap all your plugins?

if so, you will need to unwrap them I suspect or wait until Novation update things

    Or...

Are you using the 3rd party plugin manager (Auganizer) that was released a few months ago? It may not be compatible..

    Otherwise...

In the plugin manager, select one of the N/A plugins and click on the reset and rescan button and see if it then verifies..

    Thanks Benji,

but i don't see anythiung unusual going on there that would cause your issue..

Weird because I just haven't come across any other reports of your issue anywhere else either so at the moment I don't know what's causing it or how to fix it other than you may want to try deleting the Plugins cache?

    Quit Logic....

In case of Logic Pro X, the audio units cache file (com.apple.audiounits.cache) resides in

    ~/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache

Restart your Mac... Launch Logic and let it rescan your plugins and see if that fixes things..

Other than that, unless you installed say a 3rd party plugin manager like Auganizer somewhere along the way or you have been using a wrapper like Automap.. Im not sure what to try next...

Yes. it could be... though I believe it might be something specific to your system as I have yet to come across anyone with the same issue....

Still early days though so let's see if anyone else reports the same problem...

I never used Automat or any third party plugin organizers so my plugins were never wrapped. I noticed this after updating so maybe it was doing the same with the prior version. I did select the N.A. plugins and try to reset and rescan, but nothing happened. What happened is that I had previously set up four stereo spread imaging tracks in my mastering template that included Multipressor and Direction Mixer in each, and when I opened the template to master a mixed audio file after the update yesterday, these 4 tracks were missing. Even when I recovered an earlier version from a few days ago from TimeMachine, the tracks didn't appear. So I have had to reconstruct the template from scratch. I'm concerned that other plugins may be missing in some of my projects as well, which will be a huge issue if I have to check each track to see which plugins remain, and which are missing. My thinking is that these plugins may have been updated in the new version and just dropped from the template since for some reason the new ones are not identical to the old ones. However, these plugins are still available after the update so I was able to reconstruct the template. Any thoughts on what is going on?
