Can I recover sent emails from an iPhone 4s in my new iPhone 6

I upgraded to a new iPhone 6 (from a 4s) yesterday and everything has transferred over pretty well. There were some initial problems with my mail set-ups but I have re-entered passwords and can receive mail. The question I have is whether the mail messages I sent using the iPhone 4s can be viewed in the new iPhone. All of the messages that were in my inboxes transferred, but the Sent Items folder only contains messages sent using the new iPhone. Am I able to retrieve them or are they lost forever?

Outlook was POP for a number of years - they have recently made the switch to IMAP - so your 4S account could conceivably have been set up as POP

As for the exchange - that is strange - because the exchange accounts run off the server and your sent emails should be available unless you moved them out of the Sent Items box. I would at least check with the IT department at work on that one

mmmmmm- the only way I can think to transfer those are the following:

1. Send them to your self as emails - so you have a record - not useful if there are several

2. Do a back up of the old phone to iTunes and then restore the new phone from that back up

CAUTION - you will lose the new sent emails since they are not in the back up

3. See if the email provider has an "ActiveSync" connection that will allow you to sync the Send Messages bucket on more than one device.

Hi. Thank you for taking the time to respond. These emails were sent only from the iPhone 4 so they don't exist anywhere else for me to re-send. I'm going to try to go back to iTunes - I did restore my backup to the new phone but perhaps I didn't have a setting right with regard to emails and can find them. Thank you again for your response and thoughts!

Thank you. I checked my company settings (and when I said my company, I meant "MY" company - I have my own business and I get my email through the company that hosts my website so the IT department is me (scary!) and them. I changed to IMAP as it was on POP but my iPhone sent emails did not reappear so are probably lost. I might go back to store where I got the phone and see if they have any thoughts. I also need to check my home email settings (that is on Outlook with Verizon and does currently shows as POP on the iPhone) and see what Verizon recommends. I feel like I just changed this recently based on their settings so I may be out of luck with that on IMAP regardless. Thank you again. You have been very kind to take the time!

Mail in Outlook the program, if accepting the defaults, should have created an Archive folder. You should find this in the folder list on left side of Outlook. If you were using a POP account, then mail sent by the phone is not synced to the folders in Outlook. This would change with an IMAP account, as explained earlier. The action you describe on the phone, where the only folder to come over from the backup being the Inbox, is POP action. The sent folder is device (actually mail client) specific. If you continue to use a POP account and want to see sent mail in both locations, you would need to set up your mail to default to sending a Bcc to yourself. That setting is available in the iPhone easily, you need to look a little closer to find it in Outlook.

I have this problem too. With a Comcast pop account, sent mail was "left behind" on the old iPhone 4S, and not copied over to the new iPhone 6.

So I get that the sent mail isn't synced on the server. My question is, if the old sent mail actually exists on the old iPhone, why can't iTunes Backup back it up and restore it? Sorry, this just doesn't make sense to me.
