Q: Using Maps 2.0 3D satellite view how to capture JPEG or PDF?

Right, I'm on a late 2012 27" iMac with 32GB RAM 3.4 GHz I7 & running Yosemite.

I'm using Maps 2.0 and I have an interesting 3D satellite view of a part of los angeles that I would like to capture in JPEG or PDF for future reference.

How to do this?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 3.4 MHz I7 32 GB RAM

    Hey Wingbat1,

You can do one of two things. The first is get it lined up on how you want it to look and then click the Share button, which will be to the right of the search bar in Yosemite, to email the image and it will be in a PDF format. You can also create a screenshot of Maps as well. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

    Hey Norm 123:

I'm an architect so always worried  about how to best visualize.

I eventually figured out to go with the screen shot which I've used quite often for putting together didactic demonstrations.  But I was wondering, is there some way to get a higher resolution from a .png file from the standard Command - shift - 3 or 4 (maybe a TIFF or JPEG)?  I'll try the share and e-mail to compare the PDF to PNG.

Now my two year old 27" I-Mac has only HD resolution, so maybe a new I-Mac will provide a better .png?

Anyway, good ideas and thanks for getting back to me - you were the first in 31 views to do so.

    Best

    Bruce D

An iMac with a retina display may result in a better looking screenshot. I do not know of a way to change the default settings for a screenshot (there may be a terminal command, but I haven't heard of one).

Thanks babe - I was thinking IO might have to upgrade from my 2 yr old 27" IMAC.  But not for such a small limitation.  Actually, the PNG generated on my 27" screen looks pretty good on my retina MBP.
