Ipad wont charge its on an on and off loop

Recently my iPad has been unable to charge I am currently running iOS 7.1.2 on the iPad. The battery died and I am currently on 0%, this is after charging it for over week. When I go to charge my iPad it will load the Apple logo and my home screen before turning straight back off and starting all over again, its been on this loop for the past week. I've tried restarting my iPad but it hasn't worked. I have even tried restoring it via iTunes but my iPad will not stay on long enough to do so. Can anyone help I've lost patients with the thing.

Hey K_PALMER,

If you re iPad is not charging, the first thing I would look at is to make sure that you are using the right USB power adapter. Make sure it is using the 10W adapter that it came with to ensure that it is getting a proper charge. If all is good, take a look at the second article below to troubleshoot the issue further.

In short, i did a hard reset of my iPad for about 30 seconds, and then plugged it into a wall outlet. Whenever the apple logo showed up, i'd do the hard reset again, to not allow the iPad to do a full reboot. I did this for about an hour (it is time consuming), and when i finally let it boot up, i had 3% and was able to shut the iPad down completely, and then it began to charge.
