Screen black with no curser on switch on! Any suggestions? Pretty new machine. Was ok this morning.

Can anyone suggests what the fault might be and how to fix it?

Step 5

Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Choose the method for:

"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
