I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If you would like to update your original iPad to the most recent version of iOS that it will support, you may want to try the update via iTunes method detailed in the following article:
Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
Once your iPad is updated, you may be able to download a previous, compatible version of the app in question, as outlined below:
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
