new macbook air & iPhone 6 won't sync calendars

I had to get a new macbook pro and iPhone 6 within days of each other. At first the calendars sync'd but now they won't. I've read through the forums and have tried several of the obvious steps but still won't work. It happened after genius bar appt that was suppose to fix mail situation.
