Jan 25, 2015 10:37 AM in response to TS720160by iW00,Open Keychain Access application. On the sidebar, under Category section select All Items.
Now, do a search for items starting with IDS and delete only these one which name starts with IDS or com.apple.ids:
IDS: xxxxxxxxx, com.apple.ids.xxxxx
Next, do another search for facetime and delete all items if any found.
Next, do one more search for imessage and delete all items if any found.
Restart your mac.

Jan 25, 2015 9:09 PM in response to TS720160by Linc Davis,Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imagent.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Show Info in Finder (or just Show Info)
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
☞ Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
☞ In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
☞ What is the Modified date?
If you don't have read and write access to the item, change the settings as directed here. Note, however, that if one file has wrong access settings, most likely others do as well. If the item is locked, unlock it.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it (command-V). Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.

Jan 25, 2015 9:18 PM in response to TS720160by Topher Kessler,Try resetting your Mac's PRAM, and also ensure your Mac's Time and Time Zone settings are correct. The PRAM holds a few icloud-related settings, and may be a factor here. Resetting the PRAM will not affect the system in any adverse way, and default settings in it will be re-applied when OS X loads. To do this, restart your system and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys all at once when you hear the boot chimes. Hold them until the system automatically resets again, and then release them to allow the system to boot normally.
When this is done, go to the Date & Time system preferences and uncheck the option to set the date and time automatically. When this is done, check the box again and ensure time.apple.com is the time server used (even if it is already selected, open the menu and select it again). Do the same for your Mac's Time Zone.
Proper time synchronization is sometimes necessary for programs to manage certificates and encryption, so this may be a factor as well.
When both of these are done, try launching Messages again. Any luck?

The last modified date was November 24, 2014.
I'm having trouble finding the sharing & permissions section, but I will copy and paste what the test says under Preview.

Jan 29, 2015 8:53 PM in response to TS720160by Linc Davis,None of the routine troubleshooting steps has worked in this case. I could keep making suggestions, but I think the most effective use of your time would be to schedule a call from Apple Support by clicking the Support link at the top of this page. If you select "Apple ID" as the product you need help with, you may not be charged for the call.
