Jan 25, 2015 9:11 AM in response to conquestjohnby hsample,I've had the same or similar problem. I look at imessages and regular texts on both my iphone and my mac desktop. I've been sending and receiving texts and imessages on my phone with no problem. But in recent days, the messages application on my desktop stopped updating. I noticed that my status, as displayed when I right click the messages icon in my app tray at the bottom of my screen, says I'm "offline." But I never changed it to offline and the app won't allow me to change my status to "available." I didn't change anything in the messages preferences, or any other settings. And the help window for messages is so outdated and useless, it's laughable.
Solutions anyone??

Jan 25, 2015 12:44 PM in response to hsampleby Ralph Johns (UK),Hi,
The File Menu > Status only works for those accounts that have Buddy Lists.
If the main Chat window and interface is showing the iMessages in the text field and Saying it is Off line then go to the Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts > iMessages account and Enable it.
If at this point Eric's second link cannot help then check the Font Book and the AppleGothic Font (all one word).
It will be a long way down the List.
It should be Active (Not Disabled), should Validate (File Menu) and not be duplicated.
