Q: Will Boot Camp still work now that I have upgraded to Yosemite?

It's my son's iMac that I have inherited and I am rekindling my interest in Macs again.

I previously did have Boot Camp installed and he was running Windows 7 from it happily. Since uninstalling it I have upgraded it to Yosemite and am now wondering if I should reinstall it to be able run some Windows applications.

Alternatively should I buy Parallels?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), Early 2009 / 8GB / 320GB

With Boot Camp you have to restart to switch between Windows and Mac but when using VMWare Fusion or Parallels you can use both OSes without having to restart. It all depends on if you want to restart everytime you want to switch. if you don't want to restart everytime then Parallels or VMWare Fusion will work for you.
