can't format ipod classic it's read only

Can't format my ipod classic because hard drive is read only.

iPod classic, Windows 7

Howdy miller4303,

If you need to restore your iPod classic, use the steps in this article -

iPod only shows an Apple logo and doesn't start up - Apple Support
