Q: Wifi on Macbook only works properly when it's in the room with the router.

I have a 13-inch, late 2008, aluminum MacBook that has given me issues since updating to Yosemite. I know that there are a lot of threads about this, but my issue seems to differ in the fact that when I'm in the room with the router the wifi seems to work fine. There seemed to be some wonky settings so I completely erased my had drive (since I got a new 15" retina anyway) and reinstalled a new copy of Yosemite. Yet, the issue still persists. No other devices in my home have this issue with the wifi so I would like to assume that it's not the router. My bluetooth works fine so I don't think it's the airport card either. I've run the wifi diagnostic and it says that everything is working fine. I'm leaning towards replacing the bluetooth flex cable to see if that is the problem but I don't want to do anything that I don't have to do.

Please help. There may be candy in it for you if you can help me get my baby working again.
