I'm running Keynote 6.5.2 in OS 10.10.1, and I can see my personal templates in "Choose a Theme", but when I select them nothing happens. Where does Keynote store them so I can access them manually?

I figured the answer:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iWork.Keynote/Data/Library/Application Support/User Templates/
How I did it: I used the app Find Any File (http://download.cnet.com/Find-Any-File/3000-2248_4-10915413.html) to search for the name of a saved theme.

This happens when a Slide Master was not created in a new custom theme.
Opening an incorrectly saved theme file directly will not be of any use if the design has not been saved correctly.
The templates used to work. They stopped recently, presumably after some keynote update.
Your info shows you are running Mavericks, the last date of update to 6.2.2 was 6 months ago August 2014.
The easiest solution may be to redo the themes.
