Q: iPhone 6 stuck in headphone mode

I woke up this morning to find that the speaker no longer works properly. If someone calls me I can hear that sound with no headphones, but if I try to play music or something through the speaker it doesn't work. If I try to change the volume while headphones are not in, the phone still changes the headphone volume. I can hear everything fine when I put in headphones. I'm away at school and I'm nowhere close to an apple store, are there any know fixes to get it out of headphone mode? I already tried turning it off/on and cleaning out the jack.

Try rebooting (hold home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time).

Hey George. Thanks but that didn't work.

I've tried all sorts of resets, I've tried cleaning out the jack with blowing/paper clips/ q tips but that didn't work either.

I've been look all over for an answer, and one thing I found is connecting to a bluetooth speaker. When I do that, I am able to change the ringer volume with the side buttons instead of just the headphone volume. As soon as I disconnect I am stuck in headphone mode once again.

Some response from Apple would be nice.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
- Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear. (For iOS 6 older, hold down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)
- Relaunch the App and try again.
- Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
- Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
- Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
- Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
- Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
- Test the issue after each step. If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

Thanks for the suggestions, but they didn't work. I'm guessing there is something stuck in the headphone jack. I guess I'll keep fiddling with it.

Never mind I fixed it! I found a post that said put it in the freezer for 10 minutes, and that actually worked. Don't know why it worked but it did.

My friend had the same problem with her iPhone 6, apparently its a fairly common issue especially after a software update.

Unfortunately the fix was a repair in the Apple Store while she waited. If you don't live near a store call the Tech helpline for your country.

Another option is call yourself and answer in speaker mode, turn speaker mode off and insert headphone in and out of jack BUT, make sure it is the IPhone 6 headphone, others Will NOT work.

After trying everything everybody suggested i was looking in the head jack hole and drop my phone and BAM!!! It works
