Again, the mindless Apple zombies blame the OS when in fact this system is supported.

Over 44 years in this business when most of you were not even born and programming as a real engineer, not some developer, time to face facts with real worled expereince.

Apple again for the 4th time has released an upodate with apparently no unit code or development testing.

Perhaps Tesla was right after all, but I would prefer that the project or program manager pushed out the release for profit rather than technical performance, the thing that once made Apple number one.

Frustrating when one can see what may cause the screen to lock up aplication-wise...more frustrating to read such unprofessional, unqualified verbiage when people here want solutions rather than thr typical whiniong sounds of the kiddies with nothing else to hold up to others about their lives other than being a loyal Apple user and/or employee.

Grow up people as workig these days, you may have to change jobs and deal with other organizations that are not so likened to day care centers rather than sweat shops.

    Disgusting....

OK - Here is the answer, lol, I know sounds arrogant, but I just did this. I have also had to do this for windows 8.1.

Step one - download the icloud control panel (do not install yet)

Step two - Run the installer as an administrator by right clicking the installer and running as administrator

Step three - after the install finishes, DO NOT reboot

Step four - run the apple software update program and install iTunes from there.

Step five - Reboot, and enjoy

they key to this method working is the fact that when the iTunes installer runs it never installs "Apple Application Support". this also affects the ability for iTunes to load drivers, if somehow the iTunes installer actually "works".

almost worked all the way through, keep getting install error saying that it needs app manager then I get the app manager saying that it has an issue installing on 10 so I'm at a loss, I miss win7 already.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to anolder version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

If the issue persists and you have a 64-bit system try the for older video cards version which is a 64-bit installer for mostly 32-bit code, similar to all 64-bit versions of iTunes up to 12.1.

If you've tried the above without success then see the method in Install missing components. What component fails to install, and what error message does it give? See this post for steps to produce detailed logs of the installation which may reveal why iTunes won't install. Look for words like failed or error.

I am having the same issue on Windows 10. My Windows 10 is completely up to date and the full version. My iTunes, completely updated to the new version, also freezes a lot. I have to force close it through task manager.

I have a Dell Computer running Windows 10 with current upgrades and an IPhone 5s with IOS 9.1(13B143).  I have tried every last suggestion on this site (except for rolling back software) to no avail.  My phone appears in Device Manager with up-to-date driver, but does not appear in file explorer or Itunes.
I can only hope that one of the crack engineers on either side of this war will issue a software update that fixes the problem.
