Trouble burning DVD in Final Cut Pro X (stops at 66%)

Mine goes 75% and it burns the DVD but doesn't play and it's a 45 minute project and it takes like 2 seconds to burn then says it's complete but I can clearly see where it hasn't burnt it. Any suggestions??

66% is where FCP X hands the job to the auto activated Creat Disc app.

If you have an image set in the menu try deleting it.

DDid you try making a disk image? Make the DVD to your hard drive first.

When you share to DVD, instead of selecting the disc burner in the first popup you select Hard Drive.

I Had the same problem when trying to burn a bluray dvd. Workaround is to share to hard drive. Thought it was hanging too. But it will take the same time to make a disc image that it takes to encode. Then search for a .img file and use disc utility to burn. when I tried to durn a high definition dvd directly from FCP x using my SuperDrive it gave me an error, but i can do the same using an external bluray burner Though it takes much too long. most efficient way is disc image. Hope this helps

Create a brand new user account. Open your project/library from the new account. (If your library is not at the root level of your drive, you'll need to move it – or change your file sharing settings so you can have access. Mark a short section for testing, Export and see whether it gets past 66%.

Just open FCP X and select File> Delete Generated Event Files and check box: Delete Render Files then OK.

This happened to me one time when I had a picture I downloaded from the internet and didn't have permission to use. Once I removed that picture, it burned to DVD without a problem.

I also want to say that I struggled with this problem a few weeks ago and it ended up that it was my background picture in the menu.

People in this support community were so kind and offered great suggestions but I couldn't find the solution. I called Apple Support and for $30 we found the problem. The Apple Support Rep was wonderful and it was worth every penny, especially when it comes to trouble-shooting.

Resizing/deleting the BG image is a common fix…which was the first suggestion to the OP by Al in this thread .

Unfortunately that suggestion about the background pic was not given at the time my thread was posted. It was probably 3 weeks ago or so. But it was ok, the Apple Rep helped me with a few other things (my photos wouldn't show the albums in the FCP import window) and walked me through a few topics I had questions about. So it all worked out great.

If you haven't already done so, try updating to FCPX 10.3.2 and/or Compressor 4.3.1.
