DRIVERIRQL_NOT_LESS_OREQUAL
hmmmmmm. that one is a fairly generic blue screen. there are a large number of things that can cause it.
let's first try covering our bases by getting a minidump of the crash to the Apple engineers for a look.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
collect the minidump, and
send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
- A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
- The username you are using in the thread
- The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
- the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
- A concise description of the issue you are seeing
- The exact text of the error message you are seeing
while we're waiting for any news from Roy
... we can check on a few things ourselves.
first, check to see if the drivers on your PC are up to date. this document might help with that:
Updating the drivers on your Windows PC
if you have any third-party itunes add-ons/plug-ins installed, try checking to see if they are causing the issue by using the techniques from this document:
Troubleshooting issues with 3rd-party iTunes add-ons
head into your Device Manager (right-click "My Computer", select "Manage", click "Device Manager") and check to see if there are any alert messages showing up next to any of your devices.
download fresh definitions, and run vigorous virus and spyware scans. if your security software providers offer them, run "online" scans too. (they can sometimes pick up on an infestion even if the security software on the PC has been compromised.)
