Q: iPhone 4 Message:SIM Required (in phone that has no SIM card slot)

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 (CDMA), model A1349, which has no SIM card.  It has never had a SIM card.  There is no place to put a SIM card in.  This is my phone and worked perfectly since I purchased it new.  I bought a new iPhone 6 for myself and want to put this phone on my son's phone line. We have spent hours with Verizon and they cannot help us.  When we try to do something with this phone we get the message: "SIM Required - Please insert a SIM card"   "Try Again."  Like I said  - there is no SIM card.  This model iPhone has no place to insert a SIM card.  We are completely and utterly at a loss.  Any idea how to get past this?  Thanks.

Really ,they are charging for there own mistake?id just keep trying to get someone more compentant.i refuse to pay money!! A lot of ppl in this thread didn't have to pay anything.wether they plans or not a fee shouldn't be an issue here.

No, once you speak to a senior advisor they are aware of the issue and will not charge anyone.

    Hi again,

Please read the discussion thoroughly, especially pages 7 though 10.  There are many, many folks who have gotten this fixed.  Apple knows about this and if you follow the steps outlined here within, you will succeed.  Many have gone before you and all have a working iPhone 4 now.

    Hai, im from Indonesia.

Yesterday I've contacted the apple, and the apple advisors give me to talk with senior advisors who are in Malaysia, possibly to problems apple asia seniors were in malaysia, they did not give me access to speak with a senior engineer, they even asked me to contact the verizon, until now my iphone still required a sim.

    Is there any other solution?

There is no other solution. This is an Apple problem, and only Apple can fix it.

Then how can I fix this if I was not given access to speak to a senior engineer who we all know only apple senior engineer can fix it.

Do I have to go to the Apple Authorized Service Provider?

UPDATE AND SOLVED!!!  Started chat with Verizon online and got the # for Verizon technical support.  Told him about the successful update and then mentioned this thread about the SIM card.  He called Apple for me and cleared the support without paying. First I got a regular technician who tried just abotu everything I already had.  Then I mentioned the thread and got sent to a senior technician.  After being sent to senior technician, he seemed to know the problem and what to do, he said my phone had the "Wrong Information Activation" and sent ticket up to engineer and called back about 30 minutes later and this is what finally worked, I have Windows 7 and the new pink Itunes (if you have a Mac I assume this also would work if you find the Software update folder on your computer)  I would try this before calling Apple it may have been resolved in the update :

    Click Start

    Type in Search Bar:

    %appdata%

    Click Enter

    Open Apple Computer folder

    Open iTunes folder

    Open iPhone Software Updates Folder

Delete the Restore (mine was the one below)

       iPhone3,3_7.1.2_11D257_Restore.ipsw

power off phone and make sure it is unplugged from computer

hold down the home button and plug back into computer until Itunes opens and says it sees phone to restore

Click Restore, click restore and update

follow directions to download update 7.1.2 again

Came to Hello Screen and this time NO SIM CARD MESSAGE!!!!!!  got to Enter Wifi password and saw the home screen a moment and then said: Restore in Progress

    Restoring iPhone from backup

    And it was fixed!!
