The System stores various important parts, and some of your saved content, in Other...

Items not necessarily filed by Spotlight in an exactingly correct way may appear there.

•OS X: What is "other" space in About This Mac? - Apple Support

Some other ideas and perhaps assumptions on how or what to do about this are among

findings from a search engine. Some of the results would not be recommended to do, in

part because any effort by one individual to edit the content of another's Mac OS X, may

in fact be suggesting the other person trash their important items that appear in Other.

Among results from a search on the topic of what's in Other, include bad advice for users

to follow advertisements, and get questionable products (seen as 'free download' that will

cost, and also can compromise the workings of your computer's OS X; these also can be

a source of bad adware, and then are harder to remove than install.) So, avoid the clean

my Mac and mackeeper products, since they may add unwanted items that slow the Mac.

And they could remove important parts of your Mac OS X system, that it needs to work...

Before you attempt to remove unresearched content of the computer hard disk drive, be

sure to make a complete off-computer archive of the entire hard disk drive (or SSD) content

so you can go there to gain access to anything you accidentally trashed of the original files.

Test all backup copies, clones, and external devices that allow you to make duplicates of

your created content; once you learn how to do this, then a better path is to archive your

works on the external. Then when you find you don't need the items in the Mac anymore,

or seldom use them, keep the off-computer archive and then delete/trash original from Mac.

Be sure to not over-zealously and randomly 'clean' items out of the computer. It may fail to work.

    Good luck & happy computing!
