Question about Gatekeeper Security

Hi. So I have a quick question about GateKeeper Security. I downloaded something that was from an unidentified developer and allowed it by going to security and privacy and allowed the program to run (Using Mac App Stores and Identified Developers). I then redownloaded it the same day but my Gatekeeper was not telling me it was from an unidentified Developer. So does Gatekeeper keep a file of all the things I have downloaded? If I download something once does it automatically make it a identified developer even if I delete it?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Once you open it the first time the flag that alerts you to an unidentified developer (com.apple.quarantine) is removed.
