Q: Another Apple iPad user who cannot activate iMessage and FaceTime since the new software was updated! It was OK before, Apple won't help as my warranty has expired! Help!

IT seems like a lot of people I am having trouble activating my iMessage and FaceTime on my iPad since the software was updated! Apple won't help as my warranty has expired! It worked really well before so I need help!

iPad 2, iOS 8.1.2

    I Had the exact same problem and after following all the steps at If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

    i did several resets. Nothing seemed to work until I used my iCloud account to sign in rather than my Apple ID I got in. Apple ID did not work at all. Not sure if this will work for you but it did for me ... Good luck!

    Hi,

     

    Thank you for your reply but I'm afraid I don't know how to change my iMessage and FaceTime to my iCloud account as it always comes up with my Apple ID account?

    I Just entered my iCloud email address rather than the email address which is associated with my Apple ID In the top field when signing in to FaceTime and it worked for the messenger problem I had as well. Not sure if this will work for you but it did for me and one other guy. All the best! I read another post that he went into the apple store by Markie123 which I copied below.

     

    [Using iPad] - Just updated my iPad Air to Ios 8.1.3 which was supposed fix my inability to log into iMessage. Same error message when use AppleID..CANT ACTIVATE. any suggestions [4zo4v0-7wmjx-gfukj]

    Hi,

     

    Thanks for your reply, however, my email address is the same for both.  Yes since I installed the new software update iOS 8.1.2 my iMessage and FaceTime doesn't work anymore and then they put out another software update iOS 8.1.3 which I thought would fix the problem but I'm afraid that software update hasn't worked! Very frustrating! I am hoping that Apple has put a lot of support on this problem!
