Q: I'm unable to log into iTunes and update apps since Yosemite upgrade.

I recently bought a new computer, moved my hard drive over, and then updated to Yosemite. I am now unable to log into iTunes and update my apps. Each time I try to update apps, it calls for my username/password, I enter them, and then it immediately re-asks for them. It seems to not be accepting my username/password and continually cycling through the update process, without actually updating. Any ideas what's happening? I've tried de-authorizing the computer, re-authorizing, etc.

Thank you.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 16 GB RAM, 1TB hard drive

    Hello dalifovea,

If your iTunes application is still repeatedly prompting you to authorize the computer, I would recommend using the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve the issue here, named:

iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

There is kind of a lot to it, but just take it from the top step by step.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Cheers,

    Sterling

Sterling, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to my problem. I'm able to play all my purchased music, and I'm even able to sync my iPhone. What I CANNOT do is update my iPhone/iPad apps. When I try to, the login prompt comes up repeatedly... never registers with my correct user/password and the apps never update. I've search the forums and it seems this is a Yosemsite problem, but I can't find the solution. Any other suggestions? Thank you!

It sounds to me like these apps may have been purchased using another Apple ID at some point in the past. I would next use the Get Info window to verify whether or not that is the case with this section of the following:

Recovering a forgotten iTunes Store account name

    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
    3. Choose File > Get Info.
    4. Click the Summary tab.

The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
