How do you get the BPM (beats per minute) column to populate? Mine is blank

I have added the "Beats Per Minute" field to my iTUnes (I have PC). The column displays but it is blank, no data. How do I get the BPM data to load?

iTunes-OTHER, Windows 8

MP3's don't come standard with this information.

You need to either enter manually or use a software which will analyse your music and determine the BPM of each song. Beware, this process takes time and compute power.

Unless you're a DJ, you'll never use the BPM info, so I wouldn't add it to the MP3 info.

Aprera,

The BPM field will be populated if you (1) use a BPM detection program such as Mixmeister or BeaTunes to analyze your tracks, or (2) have purchased the track from an online store that includes BPM in the song file, such as junodownload.com. Otherwise the BPM field will be empty.

Although iTunes has this field available, it has no method to automatically populate it. There are some third-party utilities available that will scan media files and calculate a BPM value (a quick Google search should locate candidates), and some of these may offer integration with iTunes. BeaTunes (https://www.beatunes.com/en/index.html) seems to suitable - there's a trial version available for both Windows and Mac.

Its possible that some specialist retailers may include BPM data in their media downloads, though I've not actually seen examples of this.
