Hey guys, I can some help with this older imac please.Nothing written on the unit anywhere for references. Info shows:
imac 7.1
Intel core 2 duo
2 ghz
4gb ram
Serial Number: W8******X85
I had Tiger on it, I wiped the drive clean and installed Snow Leopard but now every now and then it freezes, it did the same thing when I upgraded to Yosemite but snow leopard works a lot better than Yosemite, any ideas please?

Please detail ALL you have done so far in the way of troubleshooting? Need this info to avoid the been there done that scenarios.
How large is your HD and how much space do you have left?

If you have not already done so....
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD (or the system DVD that originally came w/your comp) while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.
That I thought was happening was whenever the unit was inactive for a while and I immediately open a video that's when it's freezing, after inactivity, when I do anything else, open a file or go browsing the net it works fast. I also think the graphics may need upgrading somehow since I let the unit be inactive for an hour then when I clicked the mouse to go back in from the powersave mode I am seeing a jumbled and distorted screen? I then restarted the machine and went to your tube and it froze again so it's not related to inactivity as I had previously thought, this seems to be video or graphics related issue. Since I upgraded to and did a fresh install of snow leopard, is there a way to update the graphics?

No. However, you can double check on the iFixit & YouTube tutorial websites for DIY instructions. Otherwise, you will need to take your iMac to your local AS or an AASP for FREE diagnostic testing to confirm your graphic problem.

That is possible however the advice still stands, take it into an AASP to be professionally diagnosed. They have the proper tools and can give you a good idea of what needs to be handled.
I hear you guys on taking it to a qualified service and will do, I am just curious right now why it was working fine with Tiger and now having issues with Snow leopard?
