why won't my i pad go past the i tunes logo
last time i used my i pad it worked fine the next time i tried to use it it would not turn on properly

Sorry to hear that your iPad is stuck at the Apple Logo. To get passed it, you will need to put it into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. If you have a back up in iTunes or in iCloud, then you can put that data back on it afterwards. Take a look at the article below for more information.
