Final Cut Pro X Text Outline Opacity Not Working

I'm having trouble using text in FCPX. When I try to make a title and give it an outline (in my case, giving a black outline to a white title in impact font with the continuous title), I can't change the opacity of the outline, resulting in the inability to make the outline visible. The opacity stays at 0% no matter what I do.

I'm running Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.3 on a late-2012 iMac with OS X 10.9.4

I tried and got the same result you did.

It seems that something is not set up just right in this title.

I opened a copy in Motion and was able to make this work. I found out that the opacity parameter was connected to a rig, but this rig has no settings for it - hence it always goes back to zero, no matter what. Detaching this parameter from the rig and publishing it made the opacity slider work.

If you are confident working in Motion you can do this yourself.
