My MacBook will not play downloading movies, even when given an option to play. It just displays a black screen. I have tried restarting the computer and quitting and reopening iTunes. The movie is about half downloaded, so it should play.

Same for me, black screen, no sound, timer shows that movie is playing.

I'm having the exact same issue on downloaded movies from iTunes (imported movies work with no problems at all). Black screen, no sound, timer moving, etc. The only benefit that I've found is that the content can still be played on Apple TV, so there must be a bug with the Macbook output process on iTunes movies. I have the same version of iTunes.
Help please! This is frustrating. I've tried reauthorizing, rebooting, reauthorizing, etc. Nothing has resolved.
