Q: Storage saying Apps taking 4x as much space as I can hold

After a week or so of purchasing my MacBookPro Retina, checking the storage (curious to see how much space i can use) it tells me my apps like over 400 GB while my storage can only hold up to 120GB. Though it still says I have around 40 GB left. Possibly a graphical glitch I don't know but please someone help me.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), iOS 8.1.2

   Re-index Macintosh HD.

   Spotlight reindexing will take a while to finish.

   System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy

   You will see a new category “Other” in the Storage Display.

Note:
If you don’t have Macintosh HD icon on the desktop

Finder > Preferences > General > Show these items on the desktop:

Enable “Hard disks”.
