I want to import video from my Nikon D5100 to FCPX. Could someone guide me step by step, pleeease? What does it mean to "shoot quicktime"?
Is there a way to import video from my Sony HDD DCR-SR47 to FCPX, even if it is not on the list of cameras supported by FCPX?

The list of supported cameras is meaningless as there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of cameras that can be used with FCP X and Apple has neither the time, money or the interest to test or list them all.
Simply insert your camera's memory card into your Mac and select Import in FCP X and you will see immediately whether your video is OK . . . and it almost certainly will be.
If your camera has no memory card, connect the camera via its USB socket to your Mac and switch the camera on.
FFrom the information I can find online the Sony camera is standard definition. If you can copy the media off the hard drive onto your computer you might be able to work with though you might have to convert. I can no information on the exact specifications for the media and what drivers Sony might provide to work on a Mac.
Thank you. I will try it soon. I'm taking a FCPX class online, so I was so disappointed to see that my camera wasn't on the FCPX list. I guess there is hope:)
Thank you. I guess I will have to try (and will try), but I may get a little lost if I have to convert...It seems as my Nikon may work but it is more shaky filming.
I will use a remote and a tripod to shoot my short.
