Q: Back to my Mac Keychain Not Found

Hello everyone!

I am unable to enable "Back to my Mac" feature, when I click on the checkbox, a popup appears "Keychain Not Found", Keychain "com.apple.parentalcontrols.keychain" cannot be found to store.

I don't have parental controls set up on this account, but it is set up on my other accounts. I've tried the reset to defaults option, it does not allow me to type my password.

When I click cancel in this pop up, iCloud System Preferences will say "Back to My Mac can't start because of a problem with your account." The "solutions" provided in this pop-up has already been tried, several times, but still the same.

Since it is a keychain problem, I have tried resetting my keychain to default, first-aiding and other stuffs, but still leaving my Mac with these errors.

Can anyone please help me on this? Back to My Mac previously was working, until I re-sign in iCloud on my Mac. Thanks!

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), OS X (10.10.2) Beta

    Hey there jimmywong1111,

I see that you are having an issue with your ability to activate Back to My Mac on your computer. There is a section in the following article about troubleshooting Back to My Mac that seems to address Keychain issues when attempting to activate Back to My Mac, and it can be found in the link below:

If you have issues using Back to My Mac - Apple Support

    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203907

Update your Back to My Mac keys (former MobileMe accounts)

If your MobileMe account was moved to iCloud, you should delete those keys from the computer you're connecting to:

    1. Open Keychain Access, located in /Applications/Utilities.
    2. From the list of Keychains on the left, choose System.
    3. Click the Kind column header to sort the Keychain list by kind.
    4. Select all keys of the kind "Back to My Mac key.”
    5. Delete the selected keys. You'll need to enter your administrator password.
    6. Quit Keychain Access.
    7. Choose System Preferences from the  menu. In iCloud preferences, deselect Back to My Mac, then select it again.

Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately it didn't fix my problem. I have fixed it by reinstalling my Mac, yes, no keychain problems, but another Back to my Mac problem occurred which I will make a new post later.
