Q: iMessage don't send and receiver are "not registered"

On my MacBook Pro i have problems with the iMessage.

I did active with my Apple-ID Account and be connected without problems. But when i like to send a Message, i get the Error that the Receiver is no registered by iMessage.

Also i don't receive Messages on this MacBook.

It works on my iPhone5, iPhone4, iPad3, iMac in the office and iMac at home. But not on this MacBook.

It did work before till begin of January 2015.

In the Console i did find:

[Warning] Needs deletion: NO (Registration info (0x7ff63a7a8dc0): [Registered: NO] [Type: AppleID] [Device Name: (null)] [Service Type: iMessage] [Env: (null)] [Main ID: ....

What i can do ???

Did try to disconnect, also in my iPhone, reboot and so on, but all in vain

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

I just started  encountering this error or condition on my MB Air mid 2011. I can iMessage through email addy and no problems but when I use my wife' s phone number it gives me a "not registered error". Of course the official continuity update excludes my model MB Air 2011 . I've gone into her vCard on my address book and added her phone # as an iPhone, still not working. Did the reboots etc etc. no affect. There is no problem with iMessages on our iPads sending to phone numbers only, just a mystery.

Mine started to work again yesterday, handoff too. I tried everyday to log out and log in and yesterday it started to work again.

For your information I logged out completely from iCloud in the virtual machine 3 days ago.

Ok, today another contact from support:

They said, that problem has been moved to iMessage team, and this team will be responsible for resolving problem.

They also found, that I have cross referenced accounts (two apple ID on different emails, and crossed as recovery emails), but changing it do nothing in case. There is also another reason, that this couldn't be the source of problem - i tried completely different apple ID on fresh installation + the account is working on another mac.

Consultant said, that this could take weeks , so I will wait till end of february for final response. I asked about replacing my one month old mac for new one, but he said, that this is impossible. If the problem will be not resolved this month i will write a letter of complain pointing, that maybe this is not hardware fault, but related with hardcoded hardware ID and pair of hardware&software is not working like should (in tech specification - "macbook with iMessage and FaceTime").

    That's it for now.

    Who else have sth new?

Same problem here on Messages and FaceTime. Interestingly, Mac Pro  delivers, iMac and Mac Book Pro not. Same last Yosemite updates.

Had support on the phone but no joy logging in and out of iCloud or iMessage. They could not see my Macbook Pro as a registered device. (I think we all knew that :-D) anyway its being passed back to the engineering team again. Suggestion was made that a clean install of Mavericks on a separate partition would remove some of the unknowns. But Im sure I read someone else had tried this. Anyway will post again after the next attempt.

    HI,

I have seen people say they are going to Back step.

However for Mavericks and Mountain Lion there is the Security Update 2015-001 as a standalone item.

This is included in the OS X 10.10.2 update.

It is my belief that for some (As not everyone is affected) that it is this that is causing the issue.

This is because those that have done the Security Update also seem to be reporting similar if not the same issues.

I think the Level 2 people are now stuck.

Without the Error Messages that gives the Code number  when you get the Failed login for certain they find it difficult to check the iMessages servers.

On the other hand they can only fix it at present on a one person at a time basis.

Therefore they have bumped it to Engineering to find out if a global fix can be done.

I would guess in some places Apple Support Level 2 people are getting a little overwhelmed.

    @all,

I can report some progress in my case. Today I have tried a whole different SIM card, cancelled the iMessage activation via iPhone and signed in only with my AppleID. Did the same on my Mac (Yosemite 10.2) And everything works like two weeks ago! I can also use message forwarding etc via iPhone no problem.

On a sidenote, whenever putting back in the old SIM, I was never asked to confirm the iMessage activation.

I am not using my phone number for iMessage, so thats not an issue. Maybe it works for you guys too?

    @all,

I can report some progress in my case. Today I have tried a whole different SIM card, confirmed the iMessage activation via iPhone.

After 15min or so I did put the old SIM back in (was not asked for the confirmation) and signed in only with my AppleID. Did the same on my Mac (Yosemite 10.2). Beforehand I deleted all entries in keychain starting with "IDS:" Restarted all devices. Phone number of the old SIM card had now to be confirmed on the mac to be used with iMessage.

And everything works like two weeks ago! I can also use message forwarding etc via iPhone no problem. I can not say whether this actually fixed the issue (tried the same steps without a different SIM) or something was changed on the server side.

However, everything is back to "normal". Maybe it works for you guys too?

Was having the same problem following the update - iMessage simply stopped working

numerous calls/ chat sessions with apple support, reinstalled OS and everything with no luck

yet this morning, everything started working again on it's own

not sure why - but hoping the same will happen for everyone else!

I found it started working for me too. What I also found that I could send iMessages to email addys but not phone #s. That changed this week and phone #s worked from my MBA on OS X 10.2.2

Mine is all working this morning too. I was asked to get an application specific password for iMessage however, which is new. Text message forwarding works too. I wonder if we will hear what has changed.
